Legion of the Moonlight Progresses into Book Two!

When Ryan and Sheryl reach the driveway of Dylan’s home they are met by an unmarked officer who has the driveway blocked.  “Hello! Is everything alright?  We are here to see Emily.”  Ryan says to the officer who is now standing at their truck window.

“She is okay I hope!” Sheryl says while leaning over from the passenger side.  But Sheryl knows she is okay, she just seen her driving from the hospital window and she is sure this all has something to do with Dylan.  “Mrs. Evans is fine ma’am, but I cannot let anyone on their property at this time.”  The officer tells her.  As Ryan was looking further into the yard from the entry way he noticed that there was an ambulance, two unfamiliar cars, and a couple patrol cars from the local Police, most of which cannot be seen from the road.  “It’s Dylan, isn’t it sir, is he like dead or something I mean….?”  Ryan asks while being most perplexed.

“He is not dead.”  The officer says.  Just then he reaches in closer to the window and quietly says:  “Now, just so I can get you two out of here, your friend is being examined by a Priest.  He will be fine; they think he went nutty from some demon or something.  Anyway, do not tell anyone that I told you this, it is all a little kooky for me but I am just doing what I was told.  Now you will need to move along.”  Ryan and Sheryl look at each other with their jaws dropping just a little and then they pull the truck down the road a little way and park on the side.

In the rear view mirror Ryan can see the local news van with its dish, antenna’s and logo on the side, drive up and is now being blocked by the officer that blocked the two of them.  “Now he is stopping the news van from getting in there as well!”  Ryan exclaims.  Sheryl looks back and sees from the window the news van as well when she hears a light thump on the hood of the truck.  “What the heck!”  She exclaims as she turns back quickly in the direction of the thump, and staring at her is this big set of cat’s eyes coming from the hood of the truck.  The cat’s mouth slightly exposing its sharp fangs has a wicked glare to it as it stares into the eyes of Sheryl.  “Hey!”  Sheryl shouts as she smacks her hand on the dashboard.  “Stupid cat, you startled me!”  Then the cat jumps off the truck and stops for a minute looking back at Sheryl and Ryan sitting in their truck, and then it goes into the brush and beyond toward the home where Dylan is now being examined.  “That was Snugly.”  Sheryl says.  “That cat scared the crap out of me just now!”  “Yeah, it made me jump too; you know, my hand still hurts from that little bastard.  Actually I should say big bastard; that is one a big cat to have for a pet.”  Ryan points out.  And the two of them decide that they just cannot leave while all this is happening, not after what they had just learned and what had happened since the night of their little episode around the fire.

Read a little Snippet of Chapter 6 “To Save a Soul”

I decided to post a piece of Book One of “Legion of the Moonlight”.  I don’t see why it would spoil anything to let people see an short example of the book, so I grabbed a snippet of Chapter 6 entitled ‘To Save a Soul’ and posted it here.  Just a little peek into the book one of the series.  Book 2 is not quite finished.  Pick up Book One today:

***Start Snippet***

shotofmeadow2The dogs are on a trail that seems to lead Police to a location where Dylan might be.  They are searching on a hillside that is almost outside their jurisdiction but they let the dogs lead anyway.  Now while overlooking the plain below, and with the dogs still leading the way, a member of the search party spots a man with no shirt on by a creek side. He is taking some water to drink in his hands.  They hunker down and keep quiet.  “Okay I think we see our guy, everyone keep quiet and just let the dogs lead.”  A member Mack Green says as he then radios to Corporal Young who is overseeing the search.  “Jessie, Sir, we got him in our sights.  Well not exactly in our sights but we saw him getting a drink and the dogs are leading us to him now.  We are at the northeast hillside, where you can track our signal and back us up.”  Mack exclaims with covered up excitement.  “Okay ten-four Mack, just keep trailing him, we are on our way.”  Jessie replies.  As the dogs lead the team down the hill and the others start heading to that area, Dylan who is not in control of his body has gone back into his hideout.  It’s a farmer’s land they are on, and this farm has an old irrigation pump house that has been out of service for a long time now.  It is that shelter where the crazed Dylan has been hiding in.  He still knows not what he is doing nor does he have much memory of his Mom or the attack.

Legion had grabbed a hold on the helpless Dylan Evans during the séance they held over a week and a half ago and it had become restless from within him and decided to take action and began to energize through their new host.  He is now at the verge of death and the demons that live within Dylan know this.  They want to go into someone else that is healthy but they have to pass through in a ritual type way.  Something they cannot do without help.  Now with the search party at the bottom of the hill where their subject was spotted getting a drink, the dogs lead searchers toward the pump house that can now be seen from the break in the trees.  “Everyone wait right here!”  National Guard member Mack Green orders.  They all stay back where there is cover and begin to surround the small shack.  “How do you know he is in that little shack?”  Jessie Young who has now arrived asks.  “Pretty sure he is sir; the dogs are on his trail.”  Mack replies with confidence.  “We have men on the other side as well surrounding this guy.”  He tells Jessie.  Jessie then speaks through his bull horn toward the shack, telling Dylan to give up.  “End of the road Dylan, you are surrounded.  Now if you just come out and keep your hands up where we can see them, we can end this thing and get you the help you need and a nice warm place to relax.  What do you say?”

****End Snippet****

If the section of text from the book has you confused, it was kind of meant to.  In other words I have picked some of the writing that leaves one wondering how it got to that point.  You should be wondering what Legion is and how Dylan got himself on the run.  Who Dylan is etc…  Get Book One of Legion of the Moonlight here:
